2009 YES TV/ Film Boot Camp
The YES TV/Film Boot Camp is an intensive four week youth development program that promotes life skills, anger management, job skills, team building, communication skills, and technology skills.

The program ignites the passion of the participants by emulating the real world artistic and business environment of the entertainment industry. Throughout the process participants engage in counseling sessions and are mentored by qualified adult staff.

The four week day camp will be held July 6 – August 2, at the YES Refuge Site located at 2130 Stalham Rd Chesapeake VA. The camp will run from 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday. Participants will actively participate in the production of a teen Soap Opera called “Park Life” – online serial and TV series pilot. The project provides a dramatic look into the lives of several urban teenagers who face and/or overcome the challenges of drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, teen violence, and broken families. Additionally, the characters learn to deal with personal problems like feelings of alienation, loneliness, and relationship conflicts.

Twenty (20) participants are challenged to grow in their ability to think creatively, write with heightened confidence, enhance their acting, TV production skills, and learn how to create powerful, positive media images. The youths participate in a variety of writing and directing seminars, acting workshops, music and dance sessions, and rehearsals that result in a polished TV production. Woven through the fabric of the camp is a wonderful combination of creativity and education. Because of the high demands of the production environment, the camp includes ample time for the participants to wind down and interact with responsible adults. Recreational activities are geared toward team - building and include games and various field trips.

The 2009 YES TV/Film Camp is a partnership between Youth Entertainment Studios, Inc. and Refuge C.O.G.I.C. serving middle school aged youths 13-17.The camp includes approximately 150 hours of training in the four week time period. Daily transportation, weekly field trips, two meals and snacks will be provided.
